SPML Infra has emerged as the lowest bidder (L1) for a major drinking water supply project in Ajmer, Rajasthan, marking a significant step toward strengthening the city’s water infrastructure and enhancing access to reliable potable water.
The project, with a bid value of Rs 212.40 crore, involves the development of critical water transmission and storage infrastructure to improve the efficiency and coverage of the city's water distribution network. The scope of work includes the laying of a pipeline from the Nasirabad pump house to the Nausar Valley Kotra zone, along with the construction of associated service reservoirs to facilitate effective water storage and supply management.
Designed to address rising urban water demand, the project aims to enhance the reliability, capacity and reach of drinking water services across Ajmer. In addition to the construction phase, the contract includes comprehensive operation and maintenance (O&M) responsibilities for a period of seven years following a one-year defect liability period (DLP), ensuring sustained system performance and long-term operational efficiency.
Upon completion, the project is expected to improve water availability, reduce supply constraints and support more efficient water resource management across the city. The development aligns with broader efforts to modernise urban utility infrastructure and establish sustainable water distribution systems capable of meeting the needs of Rajasthan’s growing urban centres.
